The next day around 6:30 in the morning, we reached Jodhpur railway station and boarded our bus to the hotel.
We checked into the Hotel Madhuram Royale, Jodhpur. They welcomed us by playing drums and applying vermillion on our foreheads and putting garlands.
We then freshened up and had our breakfast. And then left for the Umaid Bhavan Palace, Jodhpur after a 40 mins journey by bus.
Umaid Bhavan Palace is one of the world's largest private residences. A part of the palace is managed by Taj Hotels. It is named after Maharaja Umaid Singh, grandfather of the present owner, Gaj Singh. The palace has 347 rooms and is the principal residence of the former Jodhpur royal family. A part of the palace is a museum.
We saw many weapons used by the king, antique jewellery, the king's collection of antique watches from all around the world, the king's collection of vintage cars and many more.
After exploring the palace, we again headed back to the hotel to have our lunch. After having lunch we again headed towards Mehrangarh fort (Mehrangarh Museum Trust), Jodhpur.
The fort is located on a hilltop around 122 metres above the surrounding plain and was constructed by Rajput ruler Rao Jodha. The entire view of Jodhpur city is visible from this palace. It is whole blue as Jodhpur is known as the blue city. The entire fort is carved in Rajputana and Mughal style architecture, also several other variations can be seen as we explore the fort more.
After visiting the Mehrangarh fort our day 2 ended. We went back to our hotel rooms and enjoyed our dinner and had a good night's sleep.
